Our commitment to the environment

Tessilfibre has adopted an approach to environmental sustainability based on the reduction of environmental impact, the sustainability of the production chain and the increase in environmental awareness. Our actions aim at a development capable of ensuring the satisfaction of the needs of the present generation without compromising the possibilities and opportunities of future generations.

Detox commitment

The Detox campaign was conceived some years ago to push the big fashion brands to work in synergy with their suppliers to make their production chain eco-sustainable. The target? Eliminate all those substances that are extremely polluting and toxic to humans from clothing and the environment.

Social commitment, care for the environment and ethical behavior have been Tessilfibre’s core values for years.
Energy efficiency and eco-sustainable development, through the use of renewable energies, were the first challenges faced by the company to improve our commitment to respecting the environment.
In February 2018 Tessilfibre signed the Detox commitment, promoted by GreenPeace, implementing the path of sustainability undertaken, respecting the environment, the health of workers and consumers through quality products.

Documentation

RWS

The Responsible Wool Standard is an independent and voluntary standard. On farms, certification guarantees that sheep are treated according to their five freedoms and also guarantees best practices in land management and protection. Through the processing phases, the certification guarantees that the wool from certified farms is correctly identified and traced.

The objectives of the Responsible Wool Standard are to provide the industry with a tool to recognize farmers’ best practices; ensure that the wool comes from farms with a progressive approach to the management of their land and from the sheep that have been treated responsibly. The standard will create an industry benchmark to promote improvements in animal care and land management where needed and will provide a solid farm protection system to the final product so that consumers are sure that the wool in the products they choose is really RWS.

GRS

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council ®)

The NGO Forest Stewardship Council has started an international certification system that wants to outline the correct process for forests managing and traceablity of the derived products.

The FSC certified Viscosa is produced from forests that are managed following high environmental, social and economic standards.

Renewable energies

The company has always been committed to the protection of the environment.

In 2011 we built a photovoltaic plant with a total capacity of about 1.8 MW of power.

Some of this green energy is now used in the production process, thus reducing air pollution and waste of resources.
